[UPDATE]China's Mecha: "No, It doesn't exist"

Update 12/22: Well, this keeps getting better and better. After all that snafu concerning Chengdu Guosetianxiang's Gundam look-a-like statue, the amusement park removed it from the premises. And dig this, the pictures were also removed from the website and park officials also denied the existence of the statue according to Agence France-Presse.

News about a Chinese theme park building a giant Gundam-like statue has been out for a few weeks now and initially I did not want to post it but this new development made me lol hard.

ews about a Chinese theme park building a giant Gundam-like statue has been out for a few weeks now and initially I did not want to post it but this new development made me lol hard.

Rewind: Chengdu Guosetianxiang, an amusement park in the province of Sichuan, China built a mecha statue that closely resembles the Gundam RX-78 that now stands in Shizuoka, Japan. It is 49-foot tall and is supposed to be lit up on Christmas night.

Fast forward: This of course spread across the awesome worldwide net and people are calling the said statue bootleg, cheap imitation, copy cat, pirated, etc. Now, a PR representative finally responded by saying that "It is not an imitation but an original [design]. It is not an copy of Gundam, but a design we came up with." LOL WTF?

Original design my ass. I am always amazed how China can get away with these kind of stuff. Something gets copied, world cries foul, China modifies it, the world shuts up and forgets it = profit. But it shouldn't be that surprising though, since nothing can really touch China. They're a super power and can do what ever they want. One day, China will probably rule us all.

Ok back to the fake Gundam, the PR should just gather his balls and say "Yeah, it looks like a Gundam, what will you do about it?"
